Artworks are a collection of drawings in various media. The media includes Photoshop computer renderings, digital drawings, digital collage , and more traditional methods from pencil sketches to watercolor studies. The artwork is a extension of architectural design and illustration practice and explores conceptual and unbuilt architecture. These “variants” of architecture design are exploratory methods used to test the reality of the architecture. As design drawings, they address the connections between form, material, construction methods and detailing in the architectural process. These representations refer to a future reality and provide a critique of a present design direction.
Unbuilt architecture refers to hand sketches and hybrid drawings used for competitions and RFP’s. They provide the connection between the architecture and the landscape or an urban context. These drawings engage the client in the architectural process with the understanding that they generate ideas and direction more than finished architecture. This practice of visualization is the transition between the building process, the telling of a compelling story and the built form.
